Procurement Manager / Supply Chain Manager

Liverpool | £60,000 - £70,000

We are recruiting on behalf of a successful and growing engineering business seeking an experienced and commercially focused Procurement Manager / Supply Chain Manager to lead procurement activity and support wider supply chain performance across the organisation.

This is an excellent opportunity for a procurement or supply chain professional who combines strategic thinking with operational delivery and has a proven track record of driving supplier performance, cost savings and continuous improvement within a manufacturing or engineering environment.

The Role

Reporting into senior leadership, you will be responsible for developing and executing procurement strategies, managing supplier relationships, leading a small team of three Buyers, and ensuring the business has a resilient and cost-effective supply chain to support operational requirements.

This role offers a mix of strategic procurement, supplier management and operational leadership, making it ideal for an experienced Procurement Manager, Purchasing Manager or Supply Chain Manager looking to make a significant impact.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement procurement and supply chain strategies aligned with business objectives.
• Lead and develop a team of three Buyers, driving performance and continuous improvement.
• Manage supplier relationships, contract negotiations and commercial agreements.
• Identify and deliver cost reduction opportunities whilst maintaining quality, service and delivery standards.
• Source engineering components, raw materials and indirect spend requirements.
• Monitor supplier performance and proactively manage supply chain risks.
• Work closely with Engineering, Production, Operations and Finance teams to support business objectives.
• Drive inventory optimisation and supplier performance improvements.
• Analyse market conditions, supplier capacity and pricing trends to identify opportunities and mitigate risks.
• Produce procurement and supply chain reports for senior management.
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives across procurement and supply chain processes.

About You

• Proven experience in a Procurement Manager, Purchasing Manager, Supply Chain Manager or Senior Procurement/Supply Chain role.
• Experience within an engineering, manufacturing or industrial environment.
• Strong commercial, negotiation and supplier management skills.
• Experience leading and developing procurement or supply chain teams.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
• A strong understanding of both strategic procurement and operational supply chain management.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Experience managing supplier performance, inventory and supply chain risk.
• Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Experience using ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Office applications.

MCIPS qualified or working towards CIPS accreditation would be advantageous but is not essential.
